Change is needed around the world with all the injustice, hate groups and other things that are affecting humanity in a negative way. There are activists, leaders, and top officials that believe in coming together to make a positive change, one issue at a time. That is what this civic organization did when they launched Avaaz.
Avaaz is an organization that was built for the people by the people to avoid government limitations. They were founded January 2007 by a “community of public sector professionals dedicated to promoting good governance, civic virtue, and deliberative democracy.” (www.wikipedia.com). They chose this route to help fight the bad forces in the world. They focus on fighting issues that are harming societies such as climate change, human rights, animal rights, poverty and so much more.
Avaaz is a positive group of people that are willing to go against anything or anyone causing a negative impact on society. They put campaigns together to help raise money and petition different issues, and are always looking for new volunteers. People can find more information on their website at www.avaaz.com. Currently, they have a campaign about getting help for Rohingya to Safety. Many Rohingya people are stranded and losing lives. Another campaign is about banning Monsanto’s new super poison that kills plants and travels in the air risking local neighborhoods.
A lifeline for Yemen is fighting to save children from malnutrition. It is documented that “500,000 people have been hit by the worst cholera epidemic ever recorded.” (www.avaaz.org). There are many instances where volunteers and members come together to rally and protest. They have been making a massive change in the community since launching in 2007.
