The Talkspace online therapy app provides those who are in need of mental health services with a more affordable and unconventional way to attain it. Through this app, clients can get access to a professional therapist that they will be able to contact through text, audio and video messaging at least one a day.
Upon first contact with the service, an assessment will be done by a therapist who will afterwards match the client up with another licensed therapist that will be assigned to them permanently, as long as the client is content with their services. After everything has been set up satisfactorily, the person’s primary therapist will then be available to receive messages from them, as well as respond to those messages up to 2 times a day.
The payment plans for the Talkspace therapy service are substantially lower than what someone would pay to receive therapy in a traditional setting. The plans can range from $20 to $250 per session. For $32 a week, a client can check in with their therapist once a day by text, video and audio messaging, and if clients need more time than just the daily messaging option with their therapists, they can schedule a video chat session with them. For $49 a week, clients will be given access to 2 therapists they can send and receive messages to and from, and they will be allowed to have one live 30 minute session with them per month.
Talkspace has more than 1500 licensed mental health care professionals in their network who are required to be in compliance with strict codes when it comes to client-therapist confidentiality, and each client’s private information is protected through the company’s encryption and storage methods. Talkspace is based in New York, and was founded by Oren and Roni Frank in 2012.
